Name: Pablo Aguirre de Souza
Favourite Club: Botafogo FR
Coaching History:
2015 – Head Coach of Brisbane Boys College (Year 10 B)
2015 – Assistant Coach of Olympic FC U18 NPL
2016 – Head Coach of Olympic FC U14 Div 1
2016 – Assistant Coach of Brisbane Roar Youth (NPL)
Favourite Coaching Moment:
Implementing a successful style of play at U14 Div 1 last season. We were able to dictate every game. I’ve learned a lot and I think all the players improved (five players went up to NPL the following year)
Season Goal:
To win the league. And to provide an environment where all the players can improve as human beings and learn not only football but how to be competitive, while being respectful towards opponents, teammates and officials.
About Pablo:
Pablo developed his passion for the game in the massive brazilian football culture. Having played futsal since the age of 7 and football since the age of 12 and graduated in Physical Education and Sports at Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, he has both the playing and academic experience to take teams to the next level.
He’s a firm believer in possession football. His teams are desperate to have the ball and can’t live without it. His playing years were the end of a generation of players that included Zico, Muller, Romário, Adilio, Edinho and that was preceded by the giants Rivellino, Pelé, Garrincha, Tostão, Roberto and Jairzinho.
However, disheartened by the pathway football was taking in Brazil, flooded by corruption and politics, he found in Australia the ideal environment to start his coaching career, as football is about to take off as a sport of the masses and the huge sports and fitness tradition of the country can translate into top football.
