26th February 2010

With any luck and if the weather holds over the weekend, the Brisbane City Council will finally lay the new turf onto our new playing fields on Monday.

The inclement weather that has dogged Brisbane for much of the summer has delayed the completion of our field redevelopment program at Goodwin Park. Initially the turf for our back fields was suppose to be laid mid January, but because of the constant rain that has hampered our city the Council has found it very difficult to complete the necessary redevelopment works of our fields for this to take place. That’s why we are approximately 6 weeks behind schedule.

At this stage, we are looking to return to Goodwin Park on Monday the 12th of April. All members will be kept updated regarding this schedule. This will not interfere with the commencement of the fixture program because the season for the majority of our juniors will not begin until after the Easter break. Until we are given the all clear from the Brisbane City Council, junior teams will continue to train at the hockey fields on Brougham Street, Fairfield. The fields are only available on a Thursday and Friday night, and your coaches will contact you as soon as they have decided to begin pre season training.

If anyone has any queries regarding the commencement of training or where training will be, please contact your age registrars;
