Preview: Brisbane Strikers vs Olympic FC

The clash

Olympic FC head to Perry Park on Saturday night to face Brisbane Strikers for what will be their last away trip of the 2018 NPL Queensland regular season.

Olympic who currently sit third on the NPL Queensland ladder can secure their spot in this seasons finals series with a result on Saturday night.

The Yeronga-based outfit beat Brisbane City 4-2 in their last outing and come into Saturday’s clash on a seven-match unbeaten run in the league.

Brisbane Strikers sit fifth on the league table and know nothing less than three points will keep their finals hopes alive on Saturday night.

 “It’s always a big game away to Strikers, the focus is all about the performance and making sure that we continually improve ahead of finals.”

“We’re really positive coming into this game, the second half at Lions and the performance against Brisbane City were certainly two of our best performances of the year.”

“We’ve got every player fit and available, I think that we’ve showed in some of our recent games that we’ve got exceptional physical condition and we’re still working hard to keep on improving and developing.”


Key facts

 -A result in Saturday’s match will see Olympic secure a return to finals football for the first time since 2015.

-The last time Olympic FC midfielder Kieran Sanders played at Perry Park was the 2016 NPL Queensland grand final for FNQ Heat against Redlands United. Although his side lost 3-2 Sanders bagged a double on the night.

-Shelford Dais – a former Striker is set to make his first appearance at Perry Park since departing the club in 2016.
