Olympic FC defender Kazuya Ito praised his sides organisation following Sunday’s 3-0 win over Redlands United at Goodwin Park.
Goals from Adam Edgar, Costa Psaros and Kieran Sanders saw Olympic maintain their spot atop the NPL Queensland ladder.
Olympic found the breakthrough early on when Psaros broke free down the right before squaring to Edgar who coolly converted from close range.
Psaros doubled the hosts lead in the 78th minute when he slammed home a shot on the turn after Sanders brought down Dais’ cross for him inside the area.
Sanders got in on the act himself four minutes later when he twisted and turned on the top of the box to leave the Redlands defence in his wake before delicately finishing past Ralph to round out the 3-0 score line.
The win was Olympic’s second in five days after they overcame Capital League One club St. George Willawong 7-1 in the FFA Cup on Tuesday night.
Ito said his sides coaching staff’s organisation in a week that differed from the usual routine was key to his side coming through unscathed.
“It was a tough week playing two games with the FFA Cup and Redlands last night, so it was really good to get the three points last night.”
“Our preparation was key but it’s not only this week, from the start of the season the management have been very professional with recovery and training, everything is organised and we’re getting the results.”
The clean sheet in Sunday’s match was Olympic’s third from four home matches in the league this season.
Ito said his sides defensive unit was getting better with each passing week.
“We kept the clean sheet which was a reward for our solid defensive organisations in both the backline and midfield, our build up play was quite good too.”
“Our defensive structure and communication is improving every week but we still can get much better.”
“We’ll just keeping working and improving there’s still plenty of the season to come,” Ito concluded.
