Mundy determined to right wrongs of past seasons

Olympic FC midfielder Matt Mundy said his side are determined to make up for the disappointment of last season ahead of Saturday’s round one clash against Mackay Whitsundays Magpies Crusaders United.

Olympic get their NPL Queensland campaign underway at Sologinkin Park in Mackay against NPL newcomers Magpies Crusaders United on Saturday night.

After missing out on finals football for the last two season’s Mundy says his must start well in as they chase an improved finish this time round.

“Last year was a big disappointment, with the line up we had we should’ve done a lot better so this year we’ll make sure we remedy that.”

“This year we make sure we start right and finish right so we can be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.”

Saturday’s match will be a historic match for the Magpies Crusaders United who are one of five new club’s competing in this season’s competition.

Mundy said despite the fact that Magpies Crusaders are an unknown proposition his side were purely focused on themselves.

“They’ll be an unknown quantity but we’re not going to worry too much about what the oppositions doing.”

“We’ll worry about getting our structures right and playing the way that we want to play, let our football speak for itself and go from there.”

“If we play the way we want to play and the way the gaffers sent us out to play then we’ll come home with the three points,” Mundy said.

Saturday night will be Ben Cahn’s first competitive match in charge of Olympic while seven players are in line to make their competitive debuts for the club.

Mullen said he was impressed with Olympics’ new-look line up and said the mood is positive in the camp ahead of Saturday’s match.

“We’ve got some great new players like Kieran (Sanders) and (Steve) Whytey as well as a lot of young boys that are really starting to hone in on their craft and develop under Ben.”

“I must admit this is certainly the most I’ve enjoyed a pre-season in a long time, I think the squads coming together really well, we’ve got a good bunch of boys and everyone’s working hard for each other.”
