Olympic FC are delighted to announce the return of two esteemed coaches into the junior National Premier Leagues program.
Phillip Canham and Fernando Cruz have been appointed to the U15 and U16 teams as respective Game Training Directors for 2018. The teams will combine regularly to share the wealth of knowledge and experience between both coaches, as well as benefiting from the guidance of Technical Director, Jimmy Gelagotis. This coaching structure will ensure a smooth transition through the entire junior NPL program into the senior squads.
Phil is an experienced secondary HPE teacher who has been coaching for more than 15 years, including the last 7 years with Olympic FC. In that time he has worked with state football squads, as well as implementing a successful school program at Brisbane State High School. Phil began his elite coaching career in 2010 with Olympic FC partner, Central Brisbane FC, and continues to seek opportunities to develop as a professional coach.
Nando is a highly experienced and talented coach. With a Portuguese background, he was raised to appreciate skillful and effective football, which resulted in state selection as a youngster in Australia. Nando has significant experience coaching in the NPL, having previously been a part of the Gold Coast City coaching staff from the competition’s inception. Nando is especially excited about preparing the future Olympic stars for the rigours of senior football.
Both Phil and Nando bring passion and commitment to the club, which has been evident in the time they have already spent planning the direction these teams will take with Jimmy Gelagotis and General Manager, Salvo Sottile. Olympic FC are excited to have retained the services of these two coaches, and look forward to seeing them continue the excellent work they have already contributed to the club.
