Olympic FC return to Goodwin Park for second time this fortnight as they face off with fourth-placed FNQFC Heat in Round 17 of the PlayStation Australia National Premier League Queensland on Sunday afternoon.

The 8-0 victory over Sunshine Coast Fire FC has seen Olympics’ unbeaten streak lengthen to five straight NPL fixtures, allowing Olympic to close the margin on Gold Coast City FC to three points on the ladder. A hat-trick to Ramone Close has also seen him move up in the race for the Golden Boot to equal fifth, with 10 goals in his 13 appearances.

The fixture is shaping up to be a crucial clash in the race for the top four as FNQFC Heat look to narrow the margin between them and Olympic FC. Olympic currently sit in third position, seven points ahead of the fourth-placed Cairns based side. Victory for Olympic on Sunday afternoon could see them leapfrog both Strikers and Gold Coast City into top place on the ladder, depending on other results.

The reverse fixture in Round 7 saw the Heat hand Olympic their first defeat of the season, going down 1-0 to a late winner at Endeavour Park. However, it will be Olympic who will aim to return the favour as they look to push on late in the season in a bid to crowned premiers come seasons end.

The Round 17 fixture is set to kick off at 3:00pm on Sunday July 9 at Goodwin Park.

Olympic FC Player to Watch: This week’s player to watch is in-form winger, Costa Psaros. Psaros has been a consistent threat for Olympic down the right wing and he will look to continue this form at Goodwin Park on Sunday afternoon. Psaros netted twice and provided the final pass on three other occasions in last week’s 8-0 victory. Expect Psaros to get in behind the Heat defence line and provide threatening runs for Olympic again on Sunday.
