NPL Recap: 13th – 20th March

Tough Learning Curve for Olympic FC on Wet Weekend

Our Senior Women kicked off their PlayStation 4 PS4 NPL QLD campaign this weekend with wet weather causing havoc across Brisbane. Here are all the results from this week’s action:

Senior Men NPL

With Olympic FC set to host Moreton Bay United at Goodwin Park on Sunday 19th March, wet weather forced the match to be postponed due to unplayable conditions. The wet weather gives the men a chance to rest injured personnel with the match set to be played on Tuesday 21st March dependant on the weather conditions. Round 5 will see Olympic FC travel north to face Sunshine Coast FC on Sunday 26th March with kick off at 2:00pm

Senior Women NPL

Our Senior Women kicked off their PS4 NPL QLD campaign with a tough 5-1 loss to Peninsula Power FC. Tough weather conditions saw Peninsula Power dominate the first half with the score reading 4-1 at the break with Kirsten Jamieson scoring Olympic FC’s only goal. The second half saw Olympic FC dominate in the early stages they but were unable to find the back of the net. A late goal for Peninsula Power saw them take the victory 5-1 to kick-start their campaign. Olympic FC will now face Eastern Suburbs FC at Heath Park on Saturday at 5:00pm.

Olympic FC – 1 (Jamieson 23’)
Peninsula Power FC – 5 (Barbuto 4’ 89’, Evans 12’, Schaefer 26’, Evans 28’)

Under 20 Boys NPL

Round 3 of the Under 20’s competition saw Olympic FC continue their undefeated run by defeating Western Pride 6-3 on Wednesday night. Goals to Matthew Cann, Ramone Close, Charles Slaney, Flynn Megahey and Harry McMaster ensured that Olympic FC continue their undefeated start to the season and sit in third place on the ladder. Olympic FC will now face Moreton Bay FC on Wednesday Night and Sunshine Coast FC on Sunday.

Olympic FC – 6 (Close 5’, Cann 21′ 57’, Slaney 50’, Megahey 54′, McMaster 88’)
Western Pride FC – 3 (Kashindi 11′, Parsons 19’, Pengelly 89′)

Junior NPL Boys

It was tough weekend for the Junior Boys in the National Premier League with wet weather causing mayhem at Brisbane City FC. Here are all the results:

U18 Boys vs Moreton Bay: POSTPONED
U16 Boys vs Brisbane City: 7-1 Loss
U15 Boys vs Brisbane City: 4-0 Loss
U14 Boys vs Brisbane City: 3-2 Win
U13 Boys vs Brisbane City: 5-2 Loss
U12 Boys vs Brisbane City: 2-0 Loss

A tough weekend for all involved with wet weather affecting all teams involved. The Juniors will face Sunshine Coast FC at Goodwin Park on Saturday, while the Under 18’s will travel to north to face Sunshine Coast FC on Sunday morning.

Junior Girls NPL 

All Junior Girls Round 2 NPL fixtures had to be postponed due to unplayable conditions at Goodwin Park on the weekend. These Round 2 fixtures are now forecast to played on December 31st. Round 3 will see our Girls travel to Eastern Suburbs FC on Saturday 25th March in lead up to the Senior Women’s clash with rivals Easts.
